Report 1: DNA Isolation and Digestion

This is first of two laboratory reports describing the research done in this lab course on Aliivibrio fischeri, a marine organism that exhibits bioluminescence. This report describes my group's first goal in working with A. fischeri: to create a genomic library and restriction map of the organism. To do this, we used various lab techniques including chromosomal DNA isolation, restriction digestion, gel electrophoresis, ligation, and insertion.

Report 2: E. coli Transformation

This is the second of two laboratory reports describing the research done in this lab course on Aliivibrio fischeri, a marine organism that exhibits bioluminescence. This report describes my group's second goal in working with A. fischeri: to transform E. coli with recombinant DNA to allow for bioluminescence. To do this, we used various lab techniques including heat shocking, shotgun cloning, plasmid DNA isolation, restriction digestion, gel electrophoresis, and PCR.
